Helpful Information

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Because every client and tattoo is individually unique, the number of treatments needed varies case by case. Deleted Scene uses a variety of factors to best estimate the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired look. These factors include patient skin type, patient health, tattoo age, tattoo location, tattoo colors, ink density and depth, pre-existing scarring, and more.

On average, most patients need 3 to 4 treatments to fade a tattoo for a cover-up and 8 to 12 treatments to completely remove a tattoo.

WHY DO I NEED MULTIPLE SESSIONS?

Tattoos are made up of numerous layers of ink. This thick collection of ink in your skin requires multiple treatments to successfully target and shatter each layer of ink - working from the shallowest layer to the deepest layer. Older, faded tattoos usually require fewer sessions compared to newer, dense tattoos.

Each laser session shatters more ink, allowing you to experience significant fading after each treatment.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE MY TATTOO?

A single laser session is very fast and lasts anywhere from a few seconds to 45 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. Complete tattoo removal results can be seen after a few months to a year or more depending on how many treatments your tattoo will need. This waiting period is due to the minimum six to eight-week healing phase required between treatments.

The rate at which your tattoo fades and skin heals relies heavily upon your immune system. Remember, the actual removal of tattoo ink is carried out by your immune system. Our laser simply assists your immune system by breaking up the ink particles into smaller fragments. That being said, patients with a healthy immune system will more likely experience faster fading. To expedite results and boost your immune system, we recommend drinking lots of water, staying hydrated, exercising, and refraining from smoking.

HOW MUCH DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL COST?

Deleted Scene offers affordable per-treatment pricing for all clients. Our free consultations are designed to educate you about the procedure, determine the number of treatments needed, and assign a cost per treatment based on the size of the tattoo being removed. We also offer treatment packages and discounts to help you save more.

DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL HURT?

The answer to this question is dependent on your pain tolerance. Most clients compare the laser to a rubber band continuously snapping against the skin while others say it is comparable to getting a tattoo applied. Overall, laser tattoo removal is a tolerable procedure and also very quick. Deleted Scene offers numbing solutions to make your treatment experience more comfortable.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF LASER TATTOO REMOVAL? WILL I SCAR?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most effective noninvasive method for removing unwanted ink. Contrary to methods like salabrasion, dermabrasion, and excision that almost always result in scarring, laser tattoo removal uses advanced laser technology to noninvasively penetrate through the skin without damaging any surrounding skin tissue. Deleted Scene uses the absolute safest measures and protocols unique to your skin type to ensure the best results.

The only side effects you may experience are temporary redness, swelling, itchiness, blistering, scabbing, and skin discoloration. These side effects are temporary and will heal over the weeks following each laser session. As long as proper aftercare is applied, the risk of scarring or pigment change is rare. Long story short, make sure you follow the aftercare instructions we provide.

CAN YOU REMOVE ONLY A PART OF MY TATTOO?

Yes! In addition to complete tattoo removal, Deleted Scene can target and remove specific elements of a tattoo while leaving the surrounding ink untouched. Selective removal is great for removing script (like your ex’s name), shading, or other small details from a larger tattoo.

CAN YOU LIGHTEN MY EXISTING TATTOO FOR A COVER-UP?

Definitely! In fact, most tattoo artists find it easier to execute a cover-up tattoo after it’s been lightened. Laser tattoo removal can help you achieve a cover-up you love versus settling for an overly dark piece. Most cover-up designs have to compromise size and color in order to completely conceal the existing tattoo. By fading a tattoo, you and your tattoo artist are given more flexibility and creativity with your new cover-up tattoo.
